Curtain Measuring Guide

Length:
Measure from the top of the curtain rod to your desired length. The 1" header is not included in this measurement.

Valance-to-window length ratio:
Valance length = 1/5 to 1/4 of total window height

Cafe Curtains/Tiers are usually placed at the midpoint of the window.

Width:
For a gathered look, curtains should be 1.5 to 2 times the width of your window's curtain rod.

Match the valance width to the bottom panel width for a balanced appearance.
(e.g., 60"W valance with 2 - 30"W panels)

Rod Pocket Size:
Round rods: the rod pocket should be twice the rod diameter
(e.g., 1" round rod → 2" pocket)

Flat continental rods: the pocket should be ½ inch wider than the rod
(e.g., 2.5" flat rod → 3" pocket)
